Mud, Mud, Glorious Mud

Lesson Description: Students will learn to write persuasively by convincing their friends to attend an international mud festival in South Korea. After learning about the benefits of mud baths, students will develop a compelling argument to generate excitement for the festival. By identifying and appealing to their audience’s interests and values, students will learn to build their arguments and use rhetorical devices. This lesson aims to cultivate persuasive writing skills that that can be applied in all areas of the student’s writing.

Lesson Question: You have recently learned about a famous mud festival in South Korea. All your friends love Korean culture and you think it would be a great idea for you all to attend the festival. Write a compelling memo to your friends and present the benefits of being able to travel to South Korea to attend the mud festival. Remember: friends should be able to use your arguments to persuade their own parents to allow them to go!
